In 2013, Chile had 4.9 million e-shoppers, who, on average, spent $662 online per person. This average is estimated to have grown to $822 in 2014. With a B2C e-commerce turnover of $3.2 billion, Chile is still in its infant years, but thanks to Chileans being less hesitant to order goods and/or services online, for instance, this turnover is growing rapidly.
This is all revealed by the latest report on B2C e-commerce in Latin America by Ecommerce Europe and the Ecommerce Foundation, an independent non-profit organization, initiated by national e-commerce associations and online and omnichannel selling companies from industries such as retail, travel & finance. Figures in the Ecommerce Foundation’s reports are based on the Global Online Measurement Standard for B2C E-commerce (GOMSEC). The Ecommerce Foundation also publishes an overall Global and European Report as well as comprehensive Regional Reports on B2C e-commerce in Europe, North America, MENA, Asia-Pacific and BRICS. All the reports are powered by GfK, GlobalCollect, Informatica, RichRelevance and Salesupply.
