Today, on 3 November, the European Commission and the European Economic and Social Committee (EESC) are launching EU Circular Talks, a new exchange concept of the European Circular Economy Stakeholder Platform. It aims to encourage stakeholders to interact and discuss circular economy topics in the platform, in the form of online workshops, webinars or interviews with high-profile supporters and experts of the circular economy. Additionally, stakeholders are invited to join the circular economy debate in the designated discussion forum, which features categories such as education, sharing good practices, financing and markets and engaging consumers. You can also subscribe to the EU Circular Talks newsletter to receive information on all of the platform’s upcoming events.
Ecommerce Europe participated in the organisation of today’s #EUCircularTalk webinar: The circular economy to revitalise retail, which gathered representatives of small, big and omnichannel retailers to discuss the role of circular economy to revitalise retail and wholesale, particularly in the context of their recovery from the COVID-19 crisis. The participants discussed how investments in circular economy initiatives could help retail and wholesale businesses respond to the evolving consumers’ needs, what the enabling success factors and barriers are and what the role of the Single Market is in enabling circularity. The webinar featured interventions from Commission officials from DG GROW, as well as representatives of La Redoute, IKEA, and REWE.
Ecommerce Europe welcomes the EU Circular Talks initiatives and invites all stakeholders to use the platform to engage with each other, ask questions, share their positions and further the EU debate on circularity.
