The service will be made available through Visa’s member banks and will initially be accessed through via Internet browsers on PCs, laptops, tablets or smartphones. Consumers are expected to be able to load multiple cards into the wallet.
The V.me offering is ultimately set to allow consumers to carry out face-to-face, online or mobile payments. WorldPay will also provide commercial and propositional advice to ensure that Visa’s V.me offering meets retailer needs and expectations.
The news follows a November 2011 announcement in which Visa revealed that it had chosen the V.me name for its upcoming digital wallet that would allow customers to top up an account via a Visa card or a bank account in order to shop online or via their mobile devices.
