Ecommerce Europe co-signs a Joint-Industry Letter on European SCA implementation

Ecommerce Europe co-signed a joint-industry letter on the European Strong Customer Authentication (SCA) implementation. With the letter, we would like to stress that we support that industry, the European Commission, EBA and national competent authorities are working towards a constructive, but robust and consistent implementation solution for SCA. This will help the payment industry to fully implement the PSD2 SCA regime and avoid substantial e-commerce transaction declines. The co-signatories have been reflecting further on the best approach to achieve this shared objective. We call upon the European Commission, EBA and the national competent authorities to adopt a consistent and harmonized managed implementation period of 18-months across Europe until March 2021.

The co-signatories look forward to continuing the dialogue with the involved parties to promote a consistent, harmonized and effective implementation of SCA across Europe and help meet the objective of reducing payment fraud, while minimizing disruption to the customer.
